NATIONAL EYE EXAM AWARENESS MONTH
When is the last time you had your eyes examined?
Eye exams are not just for finding out whether you need a new pair of glasses or contacts. They are about getting a better understanding of your eyes, your eye history and your overall health. Tired eyes and frequent squinting can be signs that you need to see an eye care professional.
Eye exams not only help keep your vision sharp, they can also reveal serious health problems, such as:
- Diabetes
- High blood pressure
- High cholesterol
- Heart disease
- Cataracts
- Glaucoma

Who is interested in restarting the Book Club?
Janine Sullivan who last hosted the Bookworm Book Club Peer Group is considering starting it up again, but she needs your help and your input!
If you are sincerely interested in committing to a relaunch of the book club, please email Janine by September 1: jsullivan97@icloud.com.
Janine also mentioned that one of the challenges with the book club attendance has been transportation.
Please remember, if Society’s transportation specialists are not available on book club days, you can use the transportation reimbursement process that is available for using cabs, Uber, Lyft, or Go-Go Grandparent. Just order a ride through one of the above options and email your receipt to accounting@slsbvi.org. Society will reimburse each client for their trip up to $100 per month. For more information on the transportation reimbursement option, please contact Mary Caldwell at Society: 314-301-7333.
Janine will monitor the email responses as she receives them to determine if there is a significant level of interest to proceed. jsullivan97@icloud.com
