SUPPORT GROUPS

The Society offers support groups for clients and their families/caregivers.

Our Client Support Group focuses on addressing the emotional and adjustment needs of people who are newly diagnosed with a vision loss or who are totally blind. The group meets for seven consecutive weeks with each session providing the opportunity to learn more about vision loss, develop coping skills, and share with others facing the same life situation. Transportation services for clients to participate in support groups may be available upon request. Client Support Groups meet in person at the Society offices with a hybrid option. Client Supports Groups are held four times a year. We will be offering additional Client Support Groups in Jefferson County and St. Charles County.

We recognize that vision loss impacts the entire family and not just the person who has been diagnosed. Our Family Support Group provides an opportunity for the family to learn about resources, coping skills and how best to be of assistance to their loved ones with vision loss.

PEER GROUPS

The Society also serves as the meeting place for peer groups that are led by our clients and create opportunities for learning, sharing common interests, and social activities. For a list and schedule of upcoming peer group activities, visit the Calendar and News tab of our website.
